We were docked overnight in Zaandam and had only an afternoon excursion so we took a walk around the town. We were on a canal and there was loads of boat traffic, but that meant bridges that need to raise quite often. The people in town were mostly on bikes and seemed quite used to the bridges raising.
After our walk we had lunch on the ship and then left for our excursion which was a bike tour in Amsterdam. We were bussed into Amsterdam and then assigned bikes and a guide. We rode a short way to a ferry and then crossed with our bikes to a less crowded area where the ride took place. It was mostly in the country side stopping occasionally for scenery.
After the bike ride we met up with a bus, and our ship had already left Zaandam so the bus took us to catch up with the chip in Ultrecht where we rejoined and had some views before dinner.
Overnight we sail towards Cologne Germany.
