We had originally planned to spend the day on our own in Yosemite seeing the things that we had missed on our tour but we woke up to a snow storm that would cause the park to require chains to enter. We were honestly both pretty tired from the day before so it was kind of a welcome surprise. We had a beautiful view from our cabin and the fireplace was perfect so we hung out and edited pictures and things like that. We walked around the resort and all of the cabin areas, there were quite a few. The resort was great for families, with little playgrounds and activity areas in each cluster of cabins. There were little kid friendly zip lines and lots of other fun activities. We dropped off our review of the tour at the main activities office and even ventured out at one point to see if we could get into the park or visit Hetch hetchy but the weather got bad again and we just went back. We had lunch in the tavern, and dinner in the restaurant and got to bed early for our long day of travel home on Monday. Here are a couple of cell phone pics of the resort in the snow.

On Monday we had to get up very early, drive into SFO, take a flight from there to Lax, claim our luggage, recheck and then take a plan from LAx to Phl. My roundtrip to LAX was on a work reservation so we couldn’t include the flights to Yosemite on the same reservation which made it so that we had to reclaim our bags. As luck would have it the first flight was delayed and by the time we got our luggage at lax and tried to recheck they said we were too late. There were no other flights home that day that had space but we begged a supervisor to let us check our bags and we did get onto the flight after all. Our bags also made it home! Lesson learned that we can’t expect to have a layover between flights on the same day that aren’t on the same reservation. We’ll plan differently next time.
We had a great trip. We loved Evergreen lodge and would definitely recommend it. The park can be so crowded and chaotic in the summer and it was fantastic to have a quiet calm place to return to at the end of the day.
