We traveled by train through the Chunnel to London yesterday. We arrived in the afternoon and had a very nice dinner of Fish and chips and Cottage Pie. Then we went to the Thames river and took a cruise as the lights of the city came on. We saw the London Eye, Big Ben, the Parliment building, and the Tower Bridge.
This morning we had a city tour and visited Buckingham Palace, or as close as we could get given all of the blockages and stadium seating that had been erected for the Queens Jubilee. We also went to visit St. Paul’s Cathedral, which was beautiful. In the afternoon we went to see the Tower of London and the crown jewels. No Photos of the jewels allowed but they were pretty amazing.
We are about ready to head home to our own beds. London is very crowded and the traffic is ridiculous. We can’t imagine how they will manage the influx of the many people who will arrive here in a few weeks for the Olympics.
Here are a few pictures from our night time cruise last night.
