This morning we headed to the domestic airport in Buenos Aires to fly to Iguazu Argentina to see Iguazu falls. We are traveling with 15 people from the ship that we took to Antartica as well as one of the naturalists from the trip Christine who was the undersea specialist. She and her husband Adam did scuba dives or took an ROV down into the areas where we were onshore and took video that they presented as part of the end of day recap so that we could also see what the undersea life in each area looked like.
We took the short flight to Iguazu and then a brief bus ride to the Iguazu National Park to the only hotel inside of the part the Melia Gran Iguazu. The hotel is beautiful and has gorgeous views of the falls beyond the huge infinity pool.

Our rooms weren't ready yet so we headed to the park and to views of the falls from the upper trails. The falls are expansive and there are paved or metal trails all througout. There is also a small train that takes visitors between 3 stops if they choose.

After we did the upper trail we took the train to a stop where we could see Devil's Throat which is a part of the falls where a massive amount of water goes over a choke point. At the train station there were tons of these little racoon type animals trying to get food from visitors.

As we were walking back to the hotel from the park we saw this little burrowing owl who was sitting on a branch above his burrow at the edge of the property. We also saw him again a number of times as he sat on a rock by the hotel pool most of the day.

We decided to have some time in the pool before we had dinner at the hotel. We had dinner on our own and then headed back to the room.

Tomorrow we will go on a bird watching tour in the morning, hike the lower falls trails, and then go on a boat ride up the rapids and under the falls.
