We arrived in Juneau and had a bit of time to look around the little town before we went for our Helicopter tour. The ship pulled into the harbor which was adjacent to a road of stores and just below the tram to the top of the mountain.
In the harbor were some pretty nice ships including the 130 foot yacht called Serengeti which used to be owned by Johnny Carson.

We did a bit of shopping in the stores and then met our van to transport to Temsco who were doing our helicopter tour to the Mendenhall glacier. We put on boots that they provided and then loaded into one of 2 Helicopters for the trip top the glacier. the windows in the helicopter were small but the scenery was beautiful. It was especially interesting to follow the other helicopter and see it in relation to the scenery which gave some sort of idea of the scale.

As we approached the glacier we started to see darker blue areas where the water was pooled in the glacier.

We were met by a team from Temsco who gave us a tour of the glacier.

We spent a bit of time on the glacier and then took a quick ride back to the airport on the same helicopters that brought us.

Once back in port we noticed this Harlequin duck in the harbor.
After we got back to the ship we changed and headed back out to take the goldbelt tram to the top of the mountain. There was a nice little pub at the top where we had some lunch and did some shopping in their gift shop. The whole thing was run by native tribes local to Juneau. The view from the top was beautiful. It was rather muddy up top so we didn’t do the hike that we had been thinking about but we did enjoy the view.

We got back from the tram and headed back to the ship for our trip to Ketchican – the final port of our cruise. We had dinner at the Rudi’ Sel De Mer a special pop up restaurant. Dinner was good, our waiter was kind of odd and kept asking us to give him a good review and things but we had fun. Dessert was really good.
