We had a 6:30 AM wake-up call this morning for breakfast, and then headed to our first stop at Saunders Island. At this cove there are 4 different types of Penguin colonies Gentoo, Magellanic, Rock Hopper and King Penguins.

We had what was called a wet landing because there are no docks here you just take a zodiac to the beach

Once ashore we saw several species of ducks along the beach before we headed up to the Penguins

We headed up a path that was marked with flags towards the Penguin Colonies
We first came to the Gentoo Penguin colony. The Gentoo Penguins which are sort of taking over, like cockroaches

Next we came to a Colony of King Penguins which are Conrad's favorite

We hiked a bit higher to see Penguins that burrow to make their nests, they are called Magellanic Penguins

Finally we climbed to the top of a rise to find a large colony of Rock Hopper Penguins who also had a sheep and some cormorants hanging out with them.

Finally we started back down towards the ship and were treated to some nice views along the way.

The Rock Hopper penuin colony even had a sheep hanging out with them along with cormorants.

Took a few more photos of the King Penguins along the way

We saw a fight between some Gentoo Penguins who were trying to steal rocks from the King Penguins

Once back on shore we took the Zodiacs back to the ship, the ship will then reposition to the other side of Saunders Island for our afternoon adventures.
