We woke up in Anchorage this morning and headed for the airport for a very short flight to Fairbanks.
We had stayed right near the airport and the view of the mountains was pretty spectacular

Our flight to Fairbanks was slightly late but nothing to speak of and we had first class seats so it was a nice flight with beautiful views

We were met at the airport in Fairbanks by a HAL rep who directed us to tag out luggage for delivery to the hotel as well as the shuttle which delivered us to the hotel. Our room wasn’t ready yet so we had some lunch at the hotel and shortly after that the room was available for us. We checked into the room and then took a walk downtown in Fairbanks. We knew from last time that there wasn’t much going on downtown and it’s not a town that feels particularly safe for tourists so we took a quick walk by some of the monuments that we had seen before.

We remembered from the last time that we were here that the visitors center had a photo hanging from it’s ceiling that looked just like Conrad’s brother Erik despite the fact that he’s never been to Fairbanks so we went by to see if it was still there and it was.

We went back to the hotel for a nap and then had a nice buffet dinner with excellent desserts. We headed back to the room to organize our luggage for the bus and train rides ahead instead of for the planes and called it an early night. Tomorrow we have a riverboat cruise early in the morning and then we head to Denali National Park by bus.
