Today we drove from Johannesburg to Kruger, we had several stops along the way and one of those was a rest area that had quite a few animals in fenced fields beyond the shops and far off into the distance.
Next we stopped at Blyde River Canyon Reserve, home to the canyon for which it is named as well as other natural wonders including Pinnacle Rock, God’s Window, and the Bourke’s Luck Potholes. We crossed the bridge and hiked down to the potholes. It was nice to get out of the bus and stretch our legs on this 8 hour drive.
When we arrived at Kruger national park we checked into our rooms in a nice little lodge. The rooms were sort of motel style with a door to the outside, they had a bathrom and a large bedroom with a bed surrounded by mosquito netting so that we were able to be bug free at night. The main reception area of the hotel had a bar and a restaurant as well as a pool and lake with a common area that had a large seating area with a barbeque.
