We took a tour of The Residence in Wurzburg which was built byPrince-Bishop Johann Philipp Franz. It looked a lot like Versaille inside. The artist Giovanni Battista Tiepolo from Italy did several important frescos. The building was damaged in the WW2 bombing but the frescos were still intact. An american covered the roof above the frescos and saved them.
Once we finished with the tour we had some free time to walk around town and find out way back to the boat which was docked nearby. There was a pedestrian bridge where you could walk and have a glass of wine overlooking the city. We walked the bridge but decided that a glass or beer would be nicer on this hot afternoon.

AndMarienberg Fortress a prominent landmark on the left bank of theMainriver inWürzburg. It served as the home of the localprince-bishopsfor nearly five centuries. until Prince-Bishop Johann Philipp Franz decided that he needed a more opulent place to live and built the residence.
We also walked byTheKäppele(‘Little Chapel’)Wallfahrtskirche Mariä Heimsuchung(‘Pilgrimage Churchof theVisitation of Mary’), located on a hill aboveWürzburg, in Germany.

We found a little pub across the street from where the boat was docked and sat and had a beer and a sandwich and did some people watching.
